When we are using the Add-in for MS Word 2016, the ability to edit a citation to add page numbers does not seem to to work:

  • when using a Mac, if you click on "replace pages" and enter the page number information, it adds a string of numbers at the end of the citation (for example: 20145678 instead of the page numbers)
  • When using a PC, it does nothing.  The citation does not change.

Has anyone been able to get this feature to work, and if so, can you share how you did it?

That feature is currently not working in all versions of the RefWorks Citation Manager. Support is currently working to fix this. If you have any other questions you can contact refworks.support@proquest.com. Thank you, and we apologize for any inconvenience.

By "all versions," do you mean that it does not work for all citation styles?   Or is there a way to update the citation manager?

And is there an ETA on a fix?

"All versions" refers to both mac and windows. The only way to make sure the version being used is up to date is to remove RCM restart Word and then add RCM again.

We do not have a ETA for development's fix. We will be sure to include any announcements and updates on the RefWorks Community as soon as we know more. Thank you.

Thank you for your response.  I did uninstall and reinstall the RCM tool and it is still not working.  This would be much easier if versions were noted.

I am bit concerned about this though - this is is a pretty important feature, and APA style is one of the most commonly used citation styles here on our campus (I am sure that is the case across other schools).  I am a bit confused why these tools are being offered if they work in "some styles" but not in the styles that are so frequently used, especially at the price that is charged for this product.
