Legacy RefWorks and documents created in MS Word....

We're in the midst of migrating and I am very concerned about this statement on the RefWorks support site:

NOTE: Documents created in the legacy RefWorks interface are not compatible with the new RefWorks interface. Users may create new documents with the new interface using Write-N-Cite, but they cannot continue to work on documents created in the old interface.

Is there a workaround for this? Can a document in Word be saved under another name or some such to continue to work on it in New RefWorks?

I'm thinking of my grad students who have already started their theses. What are they to do?

If all they have done is started to collected sources, they will be fine - just have them import their citations in their new account and have them use he new platform for here on out.

I have one person who is almost done with her dissertation, but really likes the new platform better.  She has been working in the last few months with the new platform for new projects, and has done her last chapter on the new platform exclusively.   Since has editing to do, she may actually just re-edit it all using the new refworks (she has already done an import); or pierce it together.

We are pushing our *migration* date as this summer; but if we get any legacy platform users contacting us after our migration date, we will give them information on how to access the legacy platform with the caveat that we are not supporting it any longer and that proquest still plans on pulling it.
